National Basketball Association

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a North American professional basketball league, the world's largest men's basketball championship, with the third largest amount of viewes. The league was founded in New York on June 6, 1946 by the name of the Basketball Association of America (BAA). It is named after its merger with the rival National Basketball League. League offices are managed from the New York headquarters. Each season in the NBA consists of two parts, the regular season and the playoffs.

Regular season

Before the start of the regular season in November, teams usually hold training camps and at the end they name the final 12 players of the team. The league is divided into 2 conference groups and in each of them 3 divisions. In the regular season, each team plays 82 matches, four with their teammates, three with their teammates of their conference, and two or three with the other conference’s teams.

During the regular season in February the All-Star Gala is organized. The gala is made up of several parts, such as three-point-throwing, bag racing, matches of freshmen, but the greatest interest is on the East-West match with teams chosen by the fans, where the best player gets the All-Star MVP (Most Valuable Player) award.
Shortly after the All-Star Gala, the player certification period ends. The regular season ends at the end of April. During this period, voting begins on the prizes to be given, such as Best Sixth Man, Best Rookie, Most Developing Player, Best Defensive Player, Best Coach and Most Valuable player of the regular season titles. Again, the professionals put together the NBA's best team, the best defensive team, the best rookie team.
Playoff
The NBA playoffs begin in late April with 8-8 players in each major (conference) group. The match is based on the results of the regular season, but the teams that win each group are always put in the first four places. The first one plays with the eighth, the second with the seventh, the third with the sixth, the fourth with the fifth, so theoretically, the better-performing teams will team up with weaker teams. Higher ranked teams usually get the field advantage (playing four at home, three away). The playoffs are in a straight knockout format, with four wins in each pairing (so a maximum of seven matches).
The highlight will not be changed in the next rounds, and the losers of the matches will definitely fall out. The final duel, the NBA Finals, will take place between the winners of the two major (conference) groups in June. The winning team wins the Larry O'Brien Championship trophy while team members receive a championship ring. The best-performing player in the finals gets the title of most valuable player in the final.
